During Monday night's regular meeting, Longview ISD announced a series of administrative changes following unanimous board approval.
Longview ISD has named Ms. Shalona McCray as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and Community Relations, the district announced Tuesday.
Previously the Chief Human Resources Officer for the district, Ms. McCray has been an employee of Longview ISD since 2008. Prior to that she has worked for the district as Lead Chemistry Teacher, Academic Advisor, District Science Fair Coordinator, District Science Instructional Specialist, International Baccalaureate coordinator, Middle School Assistant Principal, District STEAM Coordinator, and Director of Employee Relations.
A native of Logansport, La., Ms. McCray has an associate's degree in chemical technology from TSTC-Marshall, a bachelor’s degree in Education from Wiley University, and a master’s in Educational Administration from LeTourneau University.
At the campus level the district announced several key leadership changes:
Johnston-McQueen Elementary Principal Mrs. Christy Scott will take over as Principal at Hudson PEP Elementary. Mrs. Scott joined Longview ISD in 2016 and has been principal at JMQ since 2022. During her 15-year career in public education, she has served as a teacher, academic dean, and IB coordinator.
Hudson PEP Elementary Principal Mrs. Christi Coleman has accepted the position of Assistant Principal of the IB Diploma Programme at Longview High. A 29-year educator, Mrs. Coleman's new role will include providing additional support and leadership in meeting the district goal of increasing the enrollment and performance of our IB students in the Diploma Programme.
Ms. Brandi Patterson, currently Academic Dean and PYP Coordinator at Johnston-McQueen Elementary, will step into the role of JMQ Principal. This will be Ms. Patterson's debut as a principal. She has been a campus administrator since 2021 and a classroom teacher since 2012.
New campus principal for Bailey Elementary is Dr. Catina Love. She has been with Longview ISD since 2000 and has held multiple administrative positions, including District Testing Coordinator, Response to Intervention/Section 504 Coordinator, and Campus Success Coordinator. Dr. Love began her career in public education at the former Jodie McClure Elementary.
Mr. Lawrence Hines, currently an Assistant Principal at Longview High, will be moving to the Dade Center/JDC campus to replace Campus Administrator Mr. Isiah Gates who is retiring from public education. Mr. Hines has been with Longview ISD since 2013 in various administrative roles.
Mr. Maximilian Ward has accepted the position of head basketball coach for the Longview High School Lady Lobos basketball team. During his twenty-two years as a coach, Mr. Ward has had previous stops at Cal State University-Dominguez Hills, Johnson & Wales University, and Northshore High (Slidell, La.).
Joining Coach Ward is Ms. Ambreenique Williams as Assistant Girl's Basketball Coach. Coach Williams has been with the district since 2022. Her playing experience includes Cedar Valley College (Dallas), Texas College, and Bethany College (Kansas).
These changes are effective immediately, with all staff members moving into their new roles on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
